How long have they been in the field? What kind of education do they have? Work experience? Have they run any successful ICOs? Do they advise on any ICOs?
How many followers do they have? Where else do they write/speak? How does what they say influence the market at large?
How active are they on social? Are they one of the first to comment on breaking events? Do they respond to followers?
Do they only cover one topic/aspect or do they cover cryptocurrency and the blockchain as a whole? Are they focused on the crypto market or do they discuss finances at large?
Steve Jobs was the face of Apple and was credited for all of its progress but Steve Wozniak was the guy behind the scenes figuring out how to implement Jobs’ vision. When it comes to Ethereum, Vitalik Buterin is the face of the company and can be rightly compared to Steve Jobs. And Wood is comparable to Wozniak.
Wood is the co-founder and former CTO of Ethereum. Many of the Ethereum founders are experienced coders but Wood took the main role in engineering the platform. In 2014, he proposed Solidity, a smart contract programming language. Solidity is the primary language on Ethereum as well as other private blockchains.
Since leaving Ethereum, Wood founded Parity Technologies, a decentralized application (dApp). It seems like most of the Ethereum team has followed this same pattern – once they built the platform they are building out uses for the platform.
As stated before, Wood is the Steve Wozniak, not the Steve Jobs, of Ethereum. Wood works behind the scenes and doesn’t receive or seek out public attention. This is apparent when on looks at his Twitter following (41.7K) and compares it to Buterin’s following (759K). Don’t let this fool you, he is as talented and intelligent as they come.
Wood’s talking points don’t stray too far from coding and software development. Occasionally, you might see him make a public remark about world events but generally, he keeps his opinions on those type of matters close to his vest.
Wood is the founder of Parity Technologies, which develops cutting-edge blockchain applications. Most notably, Wood was one of the co-founders of Ethereum, having coded its first functional implementation. He is also the co-founder of Grid Singularity, which aims to develop a decentralized energy management platform.
