Terry Duffy is the CME (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) Group Chairman and CEO, who is overseeing CME’s bitcoin futures. In 2014 Duffy was names in the Top 200: Leaders, Icons and rebels, list that recognizes the world’s top business leaders of the last 25 years. He was also called on of Chicago’s Magazine’s 100 most power people in 2014 and 2015. He is said to be the voice for the derivatives industry, focusing on the relevance of futures to the global economy.
When CME Group (Chicago Mercantile Exchange) announced at the end of October last year its plans to launch bitcoin futures contracts, the bitcoin market went into a frenzy. Some attribute the soaring bitcoin price hike of the past month to the CME Group news more than any other single factor, which is managed by Duffy.
As of December 2017, Duffy said that he himself doesn’t hold bitcoin, but that he believes the cryptocurrency may change the future of finance. This may seem on to many invested in bitcoin or cryptocurrency.
Duffy does not keep up active social pages and is hard to find outside of the press releases and articles he’s featured in.
